Following a recent assessment by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the food additive E 471, mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, has undergone a reevaluation that resulted in new limits for contaminants.
Regulation (EU) No. 2023/1428 introduces significant revisions to the annex of Regulation (EU) No. 231/2012.
This change aims to ensure greater food safety and provides differentiated grace periods to facilitate the transition, ensure a smooth and safe shift towards compliance with the new standards, and allow manufacturers and distributors to adapt to the new limits without significant disruptions in product availability.
